BMW Tires

I've been very lax in keeping the blog up to date recently due to time consumed at work.  However, I finally retired the Michelin Pilot Road 3 rear tire this morning and took a moment to write up a tire use summary for the BMW:

R1          Conti Motion      2010 – 4/2/2011               5300 miles

R2          Michelin PR 1      4/2/11 – 4/13/12              6991 miles

R3          Michelin PR 2      4/13/12 – 3/9/13              7255 miles

R4          Michelin PR 2      10/17/12 – 9/18/13         3904 miles, saved with some tread remaining

R5          Michelin PR 3      9/18/13 – 9/6/14              5631 miles

R6          Conti Motion      6/12/14 -                            1544 miles to date, my “new tire”

F0           Conti Motion      2010 – 6/1/2011               8593 miles

F1           Michelin PR 1      6/1/11 – 9/20/12              9088 miles

F2           Michelin PR 2      9/20/12 – 9/18/13           7005 miles, saved with some tread remaining

F3           Michelin PR 3      9/18/13 -                            7175 miles to date

Of all these, I have liked the Pilot Road 3's the best.  They give a very planted feel to the bike, especially on wet pavement.  I just ordered a new set of Pilot Road 3's for $308.

Looks like I am getting something like 6000 miles on a rear tire which costs $175 and about 9000 miles on a front tire which costs $135.  That works out to 2.9 cents per mile rear, 1.5 cents per mile front or 4.4 cents per mile total - our tire tax.
