BMW Tires

I've been very lax in keeping the blog up to date recently due to time consumed at work.  However, I finally retired the Michelin Pilot Road 3 rear tire this morning and took a moment to write up a tire use summary for the BMW:

R6          Conti Motion      6/12/14 -                            1544 miles to date, my “new tire”

F2           Michelin PR 2      9/20/12 – 9/18/13           7005 miles, saved with some tread remaining

Of all these, I have liked the Pilot Road 3's the best.  They give a very planted feel to the bike, especially on wet pavement.  I just ordered a new set of Pilot Road 3's for $308.

Looks like I am getting something like 6000 miles on a rear tire which costs $175 and about 9000 miles on a front tire which costs $135.  That works out to 2.9 cents per mile rear, 1.5 cents per mile front or 4.4 cents per mile total - our tire tax.
